Trotti et al In this randomized controlled trial by the RTOG, a total of 250 patients with T2 vocal cord cancer were assigned to either hyperfractionation (HFX) or standard fractionation (SFX). The 5-year local control was modestly but not significantly higher with HFX. Substaging by T2a versus T2b carried prognostic value both for disease-free and overall survival.
